Our events are the heart of our group, from the annual Biggest Horo Dance to the Charity Banitsa Competition. These gatherings are not just about dance; they’re about community, culture, and supporting meaningful causes.
The Biggest Horo Dance event, held annually in May, is the highlight of our calendar and a true spectacle of colour, tradition, and community spirit. Our dancers, adorned in traditional Bulgarian folk costumes, gather in a public square, accompanied by a live traditional folk band. This event is not just about showcasing our skills; it’s an open invitation for everyone to join hands, step into the circle, and become part of a moving tapestry that represents the heart and soul of Bulgaria. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never danced before; the simplicity of the dances ensures everyone can participate. This gathering is more than a dance; it’s a celebration of community, tradition, and the joy of coming together to make the Biggest Horo Dance event the city of Copenhagen has ever seen.
Every October, we hold our charity Banitsa contest. Participants are encouraged to bake and bring their own banitsa and both sweet and savory variations of this beloved Bulgarian pastry are welcome! Not a baker? Not a problem! Someone has to buy and taste all those lovely treats! Beyond the competition, the event features raffles, prizes and the opportunity to simply enjoy a variety of tasty pastries. All proceeds of this event go to support charitable causes, making a real difference in the lives of those in need.
