Who are we?

Founded in 2010 by Lora Vardarova, an enthusiast of Bulgarian culture and traditions, Dilmana is the first international amateur Bulgarian Folk Dance group in Denmark. We are a vibrant community of individuals united by a shared passion for Bulgarian folk dance, music, culture, and traditions. We dance Balkan dances and horo dances from all regions of Bulgaria, from the fast paced rhythms of the Shoppe region to the slow and temperate movements of the Rhodope mountains and many more.

And we are more than just a dance group; we’re a community that extends beyond the dance floor into summer BBQs, Christmas parties, and many more shared moments together.

We are an NGO powered by the enthusiasm and dedication of volunteer teachers. Our mission is to create a social environment for developing dancing skills and creative potential of our members. We are passionate about keeping Bulgarian folklore alive and thriving in Denmark as part of the European cultural heritage.

Meet our Teachers

Nadya

From the very first day as a member of the group, Nadia has been enjoying Bulgarian dances and music. She has progressed in Dilmana from the role of administrator to that of a teacher and, today, serves as the chairman. Every week, she dedicates her time to enhancing the skills and experiences of the dancers. Nadia also contributes to Dilmana by designing folk costumes and organizing various social activities, including The Charity Competition and The Biggest Horo Dance in Copenhagen

Dima

Our very own Dilmana bred teacher.

Dima started dancing with Dilmana in the beginning of 2012 and hasn’t stopped since. Bulgarian folklore has become her hobby and way of life. She has been teaching in Dilmana since 2013, building on her skills and experience by participating in the dance seminars of some of the most renowned Bulgarian choreographers.
